By providing a short-term incentive, teachers can temporarily produce the extrinsic motivation needed to push students to demonstrate mastery of concepts and skills under similar conditions that will exist during the AP Exam.

Create or source a task that closely matches a part or all of the courses’ AP Exam.
Determine an incentive that will carry meaning for students (e.g. extra points, a tangible reward, choice in an activity, etc.).
Structure the task with similar tools, time, and resources students will have available to them the day of the AP Exam.
